Masters in Spain

Spain offers a cost-effective option compared to many other European countries, as it consistently ranks in the middle range on the European cost of living index.

In recent years, Spain has made great strides in its postgraduate education, with its universities enjoying a high level of recognition around the world. The educational system is designed to accommodate international students, offering courses in multiple languages, so no prior knowledge of Spanish is required.

UNIVERSITY FEES

Most study programs in Spain cost less than €4,000 per year, with an average cost of €1,620. However, students from non-EU/EEA countries do not always enjoy the same low tuition fees as EU/EEA nationals and their tuition fees can be almost 4 times if they apply from countries outside European Union.

Tuition is usually charged per credit point, not per semester or academic year. The fees differ according to the type of university and the level of prestige, so some like IESE or ESADE have higher tuition fees than smaller universities with a less good reputation.

There are two types of masters in Spain:

1. Official masters offered by public universities

2. Unofficial masters created by the universities themselves and therefore not officially recognised.

It is important to think about the type of degree your degree will lead you to, as some professions in Spain require the official degree of Master. In addition, some residence permits require an official master's degree.

MASTER PROGRAM DURATION

A Master's in Spain typically lasts 1 year (60 Credits) from 10 to 24 months, encompassing 60 to 120 ECTS credits. The academic year runs from September to June. Programs consist of core, compulsory, and optional modules, culminating in a master's thesis.
